In 1982, Crash put together a show with Stefan at Fashion Moda on 147th St and 3rd Ave in the Bronx, not far from where we lived. The opening was filled with a mix of downtown kool kats and graff writers from all over. Some were part of the exhibit others came to just support and hang to enjoy the scene.
Inside the event was laid out in a clear and spacious manner. Each piece had ample space around it and a small blurb of who the artist was. The ceilings where high giving the space a SOHO look and feel except it was in the South Bronx and not Downtown. Even still, the place was packed to the door, forcing people to take turns going in to see the exhibit then because it was so suffocating, come out for air! During one of these breaths of fresh air I hit the sidewalk and encounter Lady Pink, her sister Lali, Lady Heart, DEL TF5 (RIP) and my brother MARE139. We all greet each other, then DEL pulls out a marker and takes a tag. He turns to me asking if I want to tag too. Of course I do! I take the black ink Pilot and tag up on the panel that has the giant rat print on it. By then everyone who had been there and arrived afterwards starts to tag up on the same panel. When the exhibit closed for the night it was covered with so many tags as if it had been run over by the neighborhood.
After the event DEL and I agreed to meet up with Brooks 119 aka DUDE7 and go check out a local layup to get up.
