London Calling

007 Got Nothin' on Me

“It’s going to be a BLAST!” I answered the phone to an unexpected voice— It was my old friend Choci. With his usual bold and jolly greeting, he made an offer for me to jump across the ‘pond’ and get up with the London Rocstars Crew for his latest event in Central London.

This was a special event to bring together graff writers from London and New York with the sounds of hip-hop and moves the breakers were known for. The place would be action packed to the hilt. It was, and then some!

Imagine being greeted at Heathrow by a 6’ 3” Scotsman in full regalia—a kilt with family tartan all— like something out of a James Bond movie. I was truly honored by such a greeting. It would be the single most memorable moment gifted to me by anyone in my life! The days that followed were beyond anything I could imagine. The entire London Rocstars came out to greet me, welcoming me to their homeland and their world. Like a flash, even before the day of the event, I was on radio shows, making appearances, and getting ready for the walls and live works that were planned.

Overall, it was an amazing experience there with everyone! The event was at a large venue, completely packed in. It was nearly impossible to avoid coming across different writers from all over wanting me to sign their book, chat about graff and make plans for other projects. Choci was an amazing host, making London a second home for me. When he and I would travel around the city on the tube and the double decker bus I could feel the fabric of the city in its every day vibe, just like I used to— It’s what inspired me on the trains of NYC.
